My cartoon crush!! :)

Why I 'love' ( in a I know he's a cartoon character who is already married kind of way!!?!) Homer.

Well whats not to love!! Although if I knew him in real life he'd prob drive me nuts! but my fav Homer moment is in the episode where Bleeding gums merephy (the Jazz due) dies and Lisa is of course upset and crying in her room. Homer comes to the door and tells Lisa that it's ok, and like that time snowball 1 (their cat) died, they just go and get another one. (I'm totally using my own words here as I'm hopeless and memorising move/TV/ bible quotes word for word). And this only makes Lisa cry even more and Homer leaves completely confused by the whole thing but upset that he couldn't help his little girl.

That made me relise that Homer has a good heart, he's just so stupid! Being a TV character means that this is dependent on whoever is writting the episode and I'm sure many would disagree with my opinion on this one, but he makes me laugh, so whats not to like!

Welcome to Holland

My early intervention lecture gave us this to read, interesting-

'I am often asked to describe the experience of raising a child with a disability- to try to help people who have not shared that unique experience to understand it, to imagine how it would feel. It's like this....

When your're going to have a baby, it's like planning a fabulous vacation trip- to Italy. You buy a bunch of guidebooks and make your wonderful plans. The Coliseum, the Michelangelo 'David', the gondolas in Venice. You may learn some handy phrases in Italian. It's all very exciting.

After months of eager anticipation, the day finally arrives. You pack your bags and off you go. Several hours later, the plane lands. The stewardess comes in and says, 'Welcome to Holland.'

Holland?!? you say. What do you mean, Holland? I signed up for Italy! I'm supposed to be in Italy. All my life I've dreamed of going to Italy. But there's been a change in the flight plan. They've landed in Holland, and there you must stay.

The important thing is that they haven't taken you to a horrible, filthy place, full of famine and disease. It's just a different place. So you must buy new guidebooks. And you msut learn a whole new language, And you will meet a whole new group of people you would never have met.

It's just a different place. It's slower paced than Italy, less flashy than Italy. But after you've been there for a while, you look around, and you begin to notice that Holland has windmills, Holland has tulips, Holland even has Rembrants.

But everyone you know is busy coming and going from Italy, and they're all bragging about what a wounderful time they had there. And for the rest of our life, you will say, Yes, that's where I was supposed to go. That's what I had planned.

the pain of that will never, ever, ever go away, because the loss of the dream is a very significant loss.

But if you spend your life mourning the fact that you didn't get to Italy, you may never be free to enjoy the very special, the very lovely things about Holland.'

Nice One-MX

'Churches across Germany are encouraging soccer fans to swap barstools and pints for a pew and a prayer, hiring big screens to show World Cup games. More than 1000 churches and community centres will show matches live as well as holding seminars and services to encourage potentially new, and existing, Chrisitans to come together. Churches in the 12 host cities will hold services in the languages of teams playing that day.'

-Nice example of churches being a part of the world around them and not fighting against sunday sport!! No need for Homer to take his radio to these churches!!

Was looking after a couple of girls last week while their partents where out for a while and the 5yr old girl kept getting her dads bible and pulling out the bookmark and placing it at a story which included her name. She would then ask to have the bits with her name read.

Reminded me that I used to do the exact same thing- Moses and the bullrushes was definately a fav story of mine at sunday school mainly because a chick called Miriam was the hero of the story!! And not being a very common name at the moment, this was the onlyother Miriam I'd heard of at the time. Never really notice the whole story inc. how she later angers God and dies of lepracy - but I guess thats just one of those stories you don't teach at sunday school.

Luckely at the time I didn't know that Mary is the Greek translation of Miriam- or I would have been obsessed with most of the new testimont. I reckon Jesus would have know his mum as a Miriam not Mary- but I'm quite happy having a more obscure name, after the publicity of the 'there's something about Miriam' show I'd prefer not to go through that kind of attention again.

Did anyone else do the same with their name and know their story more than other bible stories?

Random Ramberlings

This will be a rather random post as i'm in a rather random mood- that what happens when you trying to wirte 2 3,000 word assignments and study for 2 exams all at the same time.

Never thought growing my hair down to my butt (head hair that is- to prevent any confusuion) would be so slow and annoying, as much as I'd like to know what I'd look like with long hair I running out of patience- so if anyone has any hair growing tips or special diets let me know.

Going swing dancing tonight with monash buddies. NOT to a swingers club like my sister thought I said and lead to an interesting conversation before we worked out that we were talking about 2 very diff things. Anyway haven't done either before so should be fun, or could be very boring, but good to catch up with the guys anyway- and if it's any good I'll write about how much of a hip swinging chick I am and if it's not much fun I'll use my imagination and make up a story about spending the night at a swingers club :)

Anyway I'm off to choose a skirt to wear tonight cos' I reckon that'd be twice as fun and trousers- guys totally miss out!
